Did You Know Lack of Sleep Can Affect Reasoning?

Lack of sleep has an impact on our ability to reason and think logically. Let’s say you get up the next day after not getting enough sleep and you then go to work. If you try to make some decisions or solve a critical problem, it may seem like your brain won’t work.

Trouble Thinking Things Through

You can’t get your brain to think through problems or to think clearly. It’s due to the lack of sleep. We know from research that insufficient sleep reduces our ability to reason and to think logically. We all want to be at the peak of our ability to do what we need to do. We also won’t be able to make good judgments if we’re sleep-deprived. Concentration is also challenging as a tired brain won’t be able to focus.

Aim for 8

To be at our peak we need to be able to think clearly-to think logically and be able to reason. That’s why it’s important to get 8 hours of sleep a night. Later in our series we’ll be looking at sleep and environment, which gives tips on keeping your bedroom sleep-friendly so you can get the rest you need.
