My Story

dr-denton -kary-picChiropractic came into my life at a very early age. I suffered from infantile seizures, and went through multiple medical doctors, who prescribed an intensive bout of medications to subdue the seizures, which also affected my energy, personality, and development. They told my parents to prepare to accept a lifetime of me being behind, both developmentally and academically. Not yet ready to accept the grave outlook of the medical doctors, my parents searched for other management options and stumbled upon chiropractic. After chiropractic treatment, my seizures decreased, and a decrease and eventual elimination of the intense medication followed.

In my small hometown of Herreid, South Dakota, I grew up to be a very active child who excelled in school and eventually in high school athletics including football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. These activities also led to me again taking advantage of chiropractic care to help with the multiple aches and injuries that come with competing.

I attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. During college I would come home for the summers to save and make money through various manual labor jobs. During one of these summer jobs, I injured my back, and again knew chiropractic would be there to help me get out of pain and back to work as soon as possible. This seemed obvious to me, but I was surprised by how many people did not know about chiropractic at all, or how straight forward and efficient it is in treating common musculo-skeletal injuries that are all too common in the workplace.

After acquiring a B.S. in Biology from Northern, I continued to Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN, where I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. While at Northwestern, I discovered they also offered additional education in occupational health, and acquired my Chiropractic On-Site Health and Safety Certificate. This training has equipped me with the expertise to help business large and small reduce unnecessary workplace injuries through preventative strategies including ergonomic evaluations and alterations, for everyone from the seated worker to the manual laborer. I also learned specific chiropractic strategies that help me provide the most effective and efficient care available to get injured workers healthy again. I continue to expand my knowledge in workplace health to this day, and am currently enrolled in the Chiropractic Occupational Health and Applied Ergonomics Postgraduate Diplomate program.

Chiropractic care has made an important impact in my life, and I have seen the difference it can make in others’ lives as well: infants and children with developmental and other health issues, athletes of all ages, workers of various professions, my own grandmother, who has been going to her chiropractor regularly for years and is able to move around much better than others her age. Witnessing incredible improvements for me and for others inspires me to provide hope, restore health, and improve lives through chiropractic.
