Oakdale Chiropractor, Dr. Adam DeLaForest

My Story

Dr. Adam DeLaForest

As a teenager I began experiencing daily headaches following numerous contact injuries while playing football and wrestling. After seeing my medical doctor and trying numerous pain killers and muscle relaxants my mother brought me to her chiropractor to see if there was anything he could do for me. After a couple of weeks my headaches and neck pain had completely subsided. I walked away with a lot of questions about chiropractic and hoped someday I would be able to help other people the same way my chiropractor had helped me.

Following high school I attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus where I completed a bachelor of science in kinesiology. During my time at the University of Minnesota I obtained a personal trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began working as a personal trainer and fitness consultant. I continued my education at Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington, MN where I graduated Cum Laude in my class. I continued to retain my personal trainer certification and am a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Minnesota Chiropractic Association, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Business Networking International.

I believe that getting a person out of pain is only half the battle. By getting people out of pain and stopping care, you are merely patching up the area until the pain comes back time and again. Instead, after the pain is gone, there needs to be a time where the back is in a healing phase, and the spine is continually monitored through chiropractic care. After the healing phase, comes the maintenance phase in which periodic checkups make sure the spine is functioning properly. If you relate spinal health to say getting back into shape, "Why after you start losing weight does one quit?" "Why do you work so hard and let yourself end up at the same point"?

In my free time I enjoy giving community health lectures to businesses and local organizations on a variety of healthcare topics! I am also a devoted husband and father of two children. When I can find time to do other things I enjoy running, biking, hunting, and fishing.

I love our Oakdale community and look forward to meeting you.

Dr. Kriva Asks some important questions of interest to Oakdale residents - Chiropractor Oakdale Dr. Kriva Asks...

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Oakdale chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
